Following is the press release published last week on the occasion of Sol Kerzner being made a Paul Harris Fellow by East Nassau.
PARADISE ISLAND â¿¢ Sol Kerzner, Chairman of Kerzner International, was presented with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Award for Kerzner International's continuous support of the Rotary Club of East Nassau's Annual Golf Tournament for Charity. The tournament is held every year in conjunction with the Scout Association of The Bahamas. Mr. Kerzner was very appreciative of the award and pledged Kerzner International's continued support.

The Paul Harris Fellowship was created in memory of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary as a way to show appreciation for contributions to the Foundation's charitable and educational programs. Established in 1957 to express appreciation for a contribution of US $1,000 to the humanitarian and educational programs of the Rotary Foundation, the fellowship recognizes the contributions of nation builders around the world.

The Rotary Foundation programs include an array of projects that positively impact the lives of people around the world and enhance international friendships and understanding. Foundation programs provide educational opportunities, food, potable water, health care, immunizations and shelter for millions of people. These activities are funded, implemented and managed by Rotarians and Rotary Clubs around the globe. The most celebrated example of this work is the Rotary Club's effort to help eradicate Polio from the Earth.

Making the presentation to Mr. Kerzner were Lindsey Cancino, Past President of the Rotary Club of East Nassau and former Chairman of the Club's Golf Committee and Constantine Mosko, First Vice President/ President Elect of the Rotary Club of East Nassau.

"We thought it would be a fitting way to show our appreciation to Kerzner International for its specific support of our annual golf tournament over these past many years by donating US$1,000 to the Foundation in order to name its founder, Sol Kerzner, as a Paul Harris Fellow," commented Mr. Cancino.

"I am very happy that Mr. Kerzner was recognized. It's well deserved and we as a club are very proud to have Mr. Kerzner be a fellow," stated Mr. Mosko.

Mr. Kerzner has been hailed internationally as a visionary and has a long list of achievements within the hospitality industry.
