NASSAU, BAHAMAS – November 6, 2019 – Roland Thornton, Past President of the Rotary Club 31 in Denver, Colorado recently presented a substantial financial donation from civic leaders in Colorado to the Rotary Club of East Nassau for Hurricane Dorian Relief Efforts.

Barry Rassin, Past President of Rotary International, and Francisco de Cardenas, Rotary East Nassau President, accepted the donation on behalf of the club. The group of 92 passengers who were visiting Nassau on cruise organized by Mr. Thornton delivered a package of 25 cheques to the club. Most of the passengers are graduates of Historically Black Colleges (HBCs) and a subset represent the Howard University Club of Southwest Florida.

“After much discussion the group had a strong desire to help in some way and asked me how to facilitate our efforts,” said Roland Thornton. “I informed the group that I am the past present of Rotary Club 31 and have complete confidence that Rotary will make sure any of our efforts will reach those in need.”

The donation will go towards the Rotary Clubs of The Bahamas Hurricane Dorian Relief Fund and its ongoing efforts for sustainable rebuilding of the islands affected by the historic storm.
