The bell struck one to usher in a New Rotary Year.
And what better way to start than with an invocation delivered by the Rev Gary Sweeting?
Toasts: To the Queen and Commonwealth of the Bahamas by our fresh faced new President, Jason.
Visiting Rotarians: PP. Patrick introduced new Rotaract President Ralpha and Secretary Tiffany.
Members Guests: Zoltan had a guest with him today, and JP would have had one too if he was there, but he wasn’t. His guest was though. Does that make sense?
New Member Inductions: Jason got his year off to a flyer with by welcoming Taran Mackey into our club. A former Rotaract Club of East Nassau President and Rotaract Area Representative for the Bahamas, Taran is currently a Senior Trust Officer at IPG Family office and also now srves on the board at Project Read.
Well known to most of us already, Taran is sure to be a great asset to our club.
Sergeant-at-Arms PP Adam cracked a few jokes then proceeded to fine what seemed like just about everyone in the room for one misdemeanor or another. The clubs coffers will be thankful.

Announcements
Rotaract President Ralpha had to leave early so she didn’t announce that the first Rotaract meeting of the year is on Monday July 6 (tonight) 6pm at the Bacardi Bar, or that Brent Symonette will be the guest speaker. But it is and he will be.
President Json presented Ash Henderson with his Director of Attendance pin.
Sir Durward made up for not being able to attend the changover function by thanking PP Elmer for his efforts last year and welcoming Jason to his new position
President Jason responding by announcing the club had just written a cheque for $6,500 for wheelchairs for BAPD.
Guest Speaker
President Jason introduced himself as todays guest speaker.
Jason gave us a run down of what he has been up to in preparation for taking office, including PETS and the District Conference in Montego Bay and being one of 15,000 Rotarians who attended the International Conference in Sao Paulo last month where new R.I. President K.R. "Ravi" Ravindran unveiled this years Rotary International theme, “Be a Gift to the World”.
Jason pointed out that he had intended putting up a slide show for us, until he realized he had only taken three photo’s at the convention. One of which was not really Rotary related either.
Then, at 1:45pm Jason hit on a sure fire way to win favour with the crowd by announcing that we ere finishing the meeting early and we can have next Friday off before lifting his glass to toast
