Speaker for the day:
VP Diane introduced AG Karen Pinder. Karen ran through the goals and objectives of both RI and the District for 2015/2016. These notes will cover a summary. President ‘Ravi’ Ravindran (for whom Barry Rassin is the Aide) prepared a Presidential Citation with the objective to make Rotary demonstrably stronger, more effective at delivering service, more widely known and respected by the public with measurable goals tracked on-line.

RI wants to focus on mandatory activities, membership development and retention, Foundation giving, on-line tool adoption, humanitarian service, new generations (Rotaract and Interact support), and public image (through websites and brochures).
Primary focus still lies with the eradication of Polio, targeted for end 2018, in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation matching program.

Felix Stubbs is the new DG for 7020, which comprises 10 countries, 16 islands and 85 clubs. The district theme is ‘From success to significance’. Success is what we attain for ourselves - Significance represents the lasting accomplishments we attain for others – it is our legacy.

The District goals are to support and strengthen your club, foster and increase humanitarian service, enhance public image and awareness, have areas of focus, youth services, continue club of the month and two 7020 special projects. The two 7020 special projects open to all clubs (incl. Rotaract, Interact and EarlyAct) are 1. Peace and conflict resolution video competition, and 2. Basic education and literacy song competition.

For RCOB Felix wants to promote impactful joint projects, quarterly fellowship, enhanced public image, membership focus (incl recruitment and retention). Upcoming Rotary events are :
New membership orientation – August
RCOB fellowship – 28th Aug at the Hilton
RCOB Foundation Gala – 12th Nov

District Conference is at Atlantis May 2-6 2016

Fined PP Terry who complained that he could not afford a pin having recently given financial assistance to ancestral home, Greece. Fined PP Robin who has a Bluetooth Pacemaker and could not wear his pin (metal) or his badge (magnet) for technically sensitive reason. Fined Jamaal for being on the newspaper almost as much as Baha Mar.
Franny then told a cute kid joke with a moral ending, do not fool with Aunt Emma when she’s been drinking.  The other joke about Granny wanting to pass wind also got a lot of laughs.
Franny then broke a confidence by telling a story about Little Robbie who once upon a time (this morning) reported that he had lost his garbage bins.  Eventually they came home having been found at the bottom his driveway.  Good advertising for Bahamas Waste

Guest Speaker
David McLaughlin is an auto racing enthusiast, owner, collector and motor sport event manager.  In 2011 along with local partners David re-launched Bahamas Speed Week that ran for three years and attracted many high net worth visitors to our shores.  Today he was at our club to speak about Edukarting.  Presently two one-week programs are being run to teach 11 – 17 year olds skills that include marketing, business and financial.  Also there is the fun of driving a Kart that attracts the youngsters to the program.  Edukarting is not just a summer event but will have a permanent site off Gladstone Road where all automotive related skill will be taught.   This is a wonderful program where teams are created that includes, a Crew Chief, Mechanic, Financial Officer, Public Relations, Art & Design.  Just like in the real world of auto racing.  David also emphasised that this can become a sport tourism attraction for the country.
Vote of Thanks:
By Keith Sands who was instrumental in inviting our speaker.
